looking in to the 250 Hp XT as a possible first ride currently.
strongly considering it, but the Subaru interior is one of the worst IMO
ex A: $32,000 Legacy 3.6, test drove it with my stepdad, before he bought his GTi
the engine pulled beautifully, the braking was spot on, the manual shifts on the autobox were surprisingly confident, so it was a good car to drive. What threw me off was the light silver plastic inside. just looks cheap. also, the UPGRADE sound system is not even a good one. there's no bass, and you need to turn it up to 20 to hear anything at all. Heck, even the basic 6 speaker setup in mom's jetta is better than the 9(?) speaker setup in that car

My sister has a 05 XT. It's a great car, but the one thing I don't like much is the turbo lag. The turbo kicks in at 2500 RPM, so it's not bad and I would get used to it if I drove it enough. It could just be me, though. The turbo Volvo's I've driven have almost no lag.
If only EssExTee could be so grossly incandescent

I disagree with his assessment of the average Subaru Outback owner. The "flannel wearing" part was correct, but only because the Outback is mostly driven by middle-aged lesbians.

the one I was looking at is a 5 speed stick, so i'd just work around the lag, by keeping the revs higher! :D
